二十一、表示提供的动词offer/afford/supply/provide

• offer

1.提供 ~ sth. to sb. / sb. sth.

He offered me his help./ I have been offered a job in the company.

他给我提供帮助。/我已经在这个公司找到了工作。

He offered his help to me.

他给我提供帮助。

2.提出／表示 ~ to do sth.

He offered to help me.

他提出要帮助我。

3.索／出价 ~ sth. for sth.

They offered a reward for the return of the jewels.

他们为归还珠宝索要报酬。

~ sb. sth. for (money). /~ sb.money for sth.

We offered him the house for 200,000 yuan. /We offered him 200,000 yuan for the house. ( 我们向他出（索）价200，000元买（卖）这座房子。）

• afford

1.力足以..., ...得起（常与can/could/be able to 连用）~ sth./ to do sth.

We can't ~ a holiday /can't ~ to go away this summer.

我们不能过假期。/我们这个夏天不能离开。

She couldn't ~ to displease her boss.

她无法让她的老板满意。

2.（正式用语）供给；给予。~ sth. ~ sb.sth.

The trees ~ a pleasant shade. /It will ~ me great pleasure to have dinner with you.

这些树提供了令人愉快的树荫。/跟你一起吃饭我很高兴。

1.供给／供应（所需之物）~ sth. to sb.

supply gas/water/electricity to domestic customers

为家庭用户提供燃气/水/电

~ sb. with sth.

2.满足（需要) ~ the need for more houses

• provide

1.准备，抚养

~ for a large family/our visitors

抚养一个大家庭/为来宾做好准备

2.防备，预防

3.提供 ~ sth. for sb.
